Hi, I’m Ding Jia. If don’t know how to pronounce my last name in English, you’re not alone. I don’t know, either. Just call me Ding or DJ.

I grew up wanting to become an entrepreneur, and felt good running a small business selling books to schoolmates as a youngster. The interest in philosophy and physics is a late discovery, when I accidentally bump into books by Gamow, Hofstadter, Kant, Plato, Wittgenstein…, and when I was stunned to learn in highschool physics that the future is completely determined by the past in Newtonian mechanics.

I still went to Babson College to study entrepreneurship, but decided to drop out to pursue intellectual interests. After some time of independent studies, I ended up in Canada, where I obtained my Bachelor, Master, and PhD degrees in mathematics/physics at University of Waterloo and Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. These years put me on a road toward a theory of everything.

Someone kindly offered me a postdoc in Belgium to continue my studies. I eventually negotiated out of it, because the waiting time for a visa turned out to be too long.

I think academia is not an ideal place to get funded for research guided by TRUTH and BAYESIAN (pretty far from ideal is the more accurate way to put it, honestly). Now I’m seeking alternative ways to fund my research. Some option I am/was considering are:

I will try to make this website not a site about myself and my own works, but a site about theories of everything, shaped by my taste. For instance, in the Results section, I plan to not only list my own works, but also recommend works from others that I find promising.
