Are path integral approaches of quantum gravity equivalent to canonical approaches? This question is important, because it affects how we face open problems. 

If the answer is no, then by judiciously choosing path integral/canonical approaches, one could avoid problems faced by canonical/path integral approaches. If the answer is yes, then such choices cannot help much.
