Abstract: If spacetime bounces beyond singularity, how does matter behave? We show that matter must also bounce for locally-symmetric gravitational bounces. In this case, pairs of points are found before and after the bounce to have identical intrinsic metric and opposite extrinsic curvature on local pieces of hypersurface. The gravitational momentum constraint then implies that the matter momentum flux must change direction. Examples are given for shell, particle, and field forms of matter, where they all bounce as spacetime bounces. The results clarify some confusions from previous works – although geodesics for test matter can be continued without bounce, real matter with backreaction must not follow these trajectories.
